Supa Grass began installing the synthetic grass in a diagonal configuration to allow even play in two directions. We then developed a reliable base system with superior drainage properties to any other available on the market, a base that drains freely yet sets to just under half the strength of concrete. This is achieved without the use of additional stabilizing with cement or polymer sprays which inevitably reduce water flow.

Base

The success or failure of a synthetic bowling green depends mainly on the base construction. Layers of specifically developed materials combined with sub surface line drainage systems to supply a firm but well drained base.

Our “Quick Drain” base system is what really sets us apart from the competition, guaranteed to be the most reliable fast draining base on the market. Our development and use of ash and select granulate slag products has seen us at the forefront of the industry.

Surface

Supa grass provide two type of bowling green surfaces

1. KDK YARN SAND Filled synthetic.

2. A Lawn Maintenance semi sand filled synthetic yarn.

Speed

After a short settling-in period, your new MasterPro Plus synthetic surface should provide players with a playing speed of around 14-17 seconds.

Maintenance

The maintenance requirements of this surface are minimal -e.g.- surface grooming only once a week and an occasional use of a polishing roller. The maintenance equipment required would be to fit a brush to one of the Club’s mowers. Read more about our Maintenance Service...

Watering System

If the green already has an automatic watering system – it is just gauging the climatic conditions to determine the time and volume of water required before play.
If no automatic watering system exists, depending on pressure and availability of water, the automatic irrigation would normally cost $18,000 – $20,000.

Lighting

For lighting, we recommend a low level system with supply and installation costs of approximately $28,000.

Paving

Paving may be required around the green – a budget allowance of $60.per square metre supply and install would be reasonable.
